Giving that I'm from Darwin and I just do not cope with the cold weather which is slowly starting to creep up on Melbourne I thought it wise to give everyone a few tips on how I stay warm during the winter.
Firstly, I wear lots and lots of clothes. Like, seriously layer it up. I'm talking, singlet, t-shirt, cardi, jumper, scarf, tights, jeans, socks and boots. And sometimes even a jacket. Oh wait- and gloves and a beanie- but I guess you can judge the weather and see if your jacket has a hood.
Secondly, I eat lots. Winter food is the best! We eat more during winter because we are cold and eating makes our insides warmer! It also makes us chubbier so i recommed a gym membership or walking with a friend. Mostly the gym, cause that way you can actually work up a sweat without icey cold wind and therefore feel like you working lunch off.
Thirldy, I eat lots. Again. Such as ham, cheese and tomato toasties and generally a fair bit of maccas after a big night out (hint- the nott).
Fourthly, the heaters. I know everyone (me especially being from darwin) will get sick of the fact the most of the heaters in deakin turn off automatically. Apologies- its a safety mechanism. Damn fire safety training when but butts cold.
Fithly, there are basic things to keep your room warm. Keep the window shut and the curtains! Nothing better than an awesomely dark room that keeps out the nasty cold air.
Finally- rather than doing all of these things I think Monash should move to Darwin. Beach everyday - don't worry about the crocs, there only around the beaches during chrissy break cause their looking for a mate in which everyone would move back home anyway. Darwin is always hot. Bring on the hotness.
